Day 1: Port Blair to Diglipur (via Baratang and Rangat)
We start very early morning from Port Blair, like around 4am or 5am. It’s because you need to cross the Jarawa forest which have restricted timing. Our first stop is Baratang, which is around 100 kms from Port Blair. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach. The road is through dense forest and you might even spot tribal people from Jarawa community. But remember not to click photos or interact with them, it is strictly not allowed. At Baratang, the must visit place is Limestone Caves and Mud Volcano. Limestone cave is like a natural wonder, you reach there by speed boat ride through mangroves, which itself feels so thrilling. The caves are cool and formations inside are beautiful. Mud volcano is okay type, but since it's unique in India, you should check it once.
After exploring Baratang, we proceed towards Rangat, which is mid way to Diglipur. You can have lunch here. At Rangat, you can also visit Amkunj Beach, which is eco-friendly and good for small break. There is also Moricedera beach, a little off road but peaceful place. Not so crowded and very relaxing.
From Rangat we continue towards Diglipur which is around 5-6 hours more. The roads are little bumpy at few places but views on the way makes you forget that. You’ll reach Diglipur by evening or night. Stay in a local guesthouse or hotel. Try to book in advance because not many options available here. Day ends with dinner and good sleep, cause next day is gonna be full of adventure.
Day 2: Exploring Diglipur – Ross & Smith Island, Saddle Peak, Kalipur Beach

Next, if you are into trekking, then Saddle Peak is calling you. It’s the highest point of Andaman and Nicobar islands, around 732 meters. The trek is tough and takes around 5-6 hours both ways, so only do it if you are fit and ready. The trail goes through dense forest and the view from top is amazing. You’ll feel like you reached top of the world.
If you are not into trekking, no worry. You can visit Kalipur Beach and relax there. This beach is known for turtle nesting. During winter months (Dec to Feb), you might even see baby turtles hatching and running towards sea. It’s a magical moment.
Evening time, you can walk around the small Diglipur town, try some local snacks or food. Not many restaurants but basic things you’ll get. Day 2 ends with tired legs but happy heart.
Day 3: Return trip via sightseeing – Dhaninallah, Panchavati, Back to Port Blair
Now we start return journey. But still, we stop at some nice spots while coming back. First stop is Dhaninallah Mangrove Walkway, near Rangat. This place is so peaceful and photogenic. There is a long wooden bridge built through mangrove forest which leads to Dhaninallah beach. Great for morning walk and some good photos. Then you can visit Panchavati Waterfalls, which is little detour but worth going. Small trek needed but falls are very scenic and refreshing. Take some time here.
Lunch you can have in Rangat or before depending on timing. After lunch, again drive back towards Baratang, and cross forest area (try to match with convoy timing). If possible, stop at Parrot Island near Baratang in evening. Thousands of parrots come back to this island during sunset, and it’s unbelievable experience. But it need special arrangement and boat, so check in advance.
By night, you’ll be back in Port Blair with lots of memories and tired body. But the happiness of visiting North Andaman is totally different.
